Travel Information for Elgin
The Binos are heading to Elgin this week and we hope that as many supporters can make the game, we always advise the best way to get to away games is using the Supporters Bus however we know that isn’t always an option for some supporters so as promised we will try and provide alternative travel information for supporter.
Elgin is around 3 hours from Stirling by car. The best route we would suggest is:
Leave Stirling on the M9 Northbound and join the A9 stay on the A9 until you reach the Boat of Garten/Granton-on-spay (A95) turn off then continue along the A95 to Craigellachie where you will join the A941 to continue on to Elgin, once in Elgin continue on the A941 until the roundabout at the A96 and take the second exit on to the A96 to the next roundabout take the first exit onto Haugh Road and then at the Moray Leisure Centre turn right onto Bourghbriggs Road. The ground will be on your left. There is plenty of public parking available around the ground.
The only train serivce that leaves Stirling to get you to the game in time is the 0908 Aberdeen service you can continue on the service to Aberdeen where you can change to the 1200 service to Inverness, this will get you into Elgin for 1327.
The first return service leaves Elgin at 1759 for Aberdeen and you then get the 1947 Glasgow Queen Street service this will get you into Stirling for 2149.
Elgin train station is approximately a 20 minute walk from Borough Briggs.
We have use the Trainline.com to get our information about available services.
The cheapest option we found was around £60 return, however this was needing to be pre-booked and was for most direct service.
It is possible to get to Elgin via Bus/Coach travel as well you would need to get the 0813 National Express (number 588) service to Inverness where you would change on to the 1145 Stagecoach Bluebird (number 11) service to Elgin, arriving in Elgin for 1317 at Elgin bus station.
The return journey is however not as easy one as the best most direct option leaves Elgin at 1655 and is essentially the reverse of getting to Elgin with a change in Inverness at 1855. However if you miss the bus you have a second option at 1705 to Inverness (service no. 11) then its a direct Citylink service to Glasgow (number G10) where you would need to change onto a Megabus service (number M11) for Aberdeen it will get you in Stirling for 2335.
Elgin bus station is approximately 10 minutes walk from the Borough Briggs.
We have got our information for the bus service form Traveline Scotland
Prices for the bus services are varied we recommend checking with the service operators for the best price.
