Rave On! Monthly Round Up, April 2015
We played our final away game of the season today, where we lost 4-0 to Ayr United. Another defeat for the Binos this season. It honestly has been a horrific season and well what exactly can anyone say that is positive, only positive I can see just now is the season is over next week.
We were relegated earlier this month back to the League 2 of the SPFL think we are going to head back to the yo-yo years of going between divisions, this time last season their was an air of excitement down at Forthbank and on our predecessor website Redweb as we were fighting for a promotion playoff place this time though we have had no fight we have capitulated and back in November it was clear even then that for us to stay in League 1 was going to be a major challenge for any manager.
This months football has been as horrific as it has been all season, for me our trip to Brechin was the one that said it all, went 1-0 down early in the first half stayed that way late into the match when Sandy Cunningham headed home the equaliser but as ever with the Albion this season as the 90th minute came we gave away another goal, and that confirmed our relegation.
This month though has seen a change in focus by Stuart McLaren and Martyn Corrigan as the management duo have finally started to work on next seasons squad. They have released Chris Smith, Lewis Coult, Callum Reidford and Graham Weir all of whom have been great servants of the club, Rave On! would like to wish them well for the future.
McLaren has also signed Craig Comrie, Willie Robertson and Phil Johnston this month so we now have 7 players signed for next season, McLaren is apparently in talks with several other players about bringing them to Forthbank next season, one of them on the short list is ex-Hibernian striker, Derek Riordan. If it is true Riordan would be a good addition to the squad. We are also hoping that we can secure the services of Andy Stirling who is currently on loan from Dunfermline, but this may be unlikely.
In other player news it is looking more likely Steven Doris will be leaving the club in the summer, Doris has been out for most of the season through injury.
With the season drawing to a close we are now looking to the pending AGM’s of the Supporters Trust and Supporters Club.
The Supporters Trust meeting is on Wednesday 13 May at 6:30pm and will take place at Forthbank Stadium. We hope to see a good turn out of Trust members at this meeting and would hope for their support on trying to build a good relationship between Rave On! and the Supporters Trust.
The Supporters Club meeting is on Friday 15 may at 7pm in the Forthbank Boardroom. We hope to build on our good relationship with the Supporters Club and work at new ways to raise the profile of the Supporters Club within the Stirling Albion community.
For now though its time to see what the rest of April brings us, as we prepare for our final game of the season against Stenhousemuir.
